Volunteering

Volunteering... heard good quote from one of the speakers I've listen to during my RMIT Orientation volunteer training session:

"Never volunteer if you don't know what you're getting yourself into!!"

hahaha... so true...

Anyways, today was a big day for me; went to the Swanston St. RMIT campus to do my training and then in the afternoon, went to the Bundoora West RMIT campus to learn the routes I need to take as a student host.

I guess the most memorable time of the day was listening to this speaker... dunno his name... but very useful tips and ideas about communicating.

NRL; nope, not the National Rugby League.... it's Neuro-Linguistic Programming basically what we all do to communicate effectively and efficiently. As we are sensory beings, we communicate through our senses = so as long as we remember to communicate Verbally, Auditory, and Kineasthetically (VAK) we are effective communicators.

I guess one of the most interesting new thing that I learnt today was how to create rapport within 30 seconds. By observing the person on how they communicate (using VAK) we can see/percieve what they are thinking. Using these clues we then model (NOT copy) the person's behaviour (as close as possible) and try to get them to visually, auditory and kineasthetically answer your questions to them.

Sounds interesting... will try that out to some strangers next time... hahaha...

Still stuck at my old place... haven't found a new one yet. Gotta call my other housemate to see the progress of the 3 applications we have sent out last week. Still chanting for the best outcome.
