Merry Christmas, 'Roo' Rage, and Potato Watch all in one!
First off, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! \o/\o/\o/\o/\o/
Not that I celebrate it anyways, but since I'm in a pre-dominantly Christianity-influenced society, a public holiday is always a good thing. ^.^
Decided to spend Christmas with LY and her brother in Nhill! Why? Well, my reasoning was... I had air-conditioning and I can borrow the school's projector to do some awesome gaming at the same time! Usually Christmas is hot as hell with 35 plus degrees days (yes, I AM in the Southern Hemisphere). Why Santa dresses up the way he does in Australia really got me wondering... oh ya, I forgot... THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS!! Not the jolly old, fat, white-beard character that we all fondly know in our childhood and recently got his call-sign of "ho ho ho" banned at public places. No, so such person exists! But I must say that as a historic figure, somebody like him does exist.
Anyways, decided to spend Christmas at Nhill. And I had my grandeur vision of relaxing holidays in peace and quiet. But there is one flaw (or maybe two).
We had to go right after LY's shift finishes. Which was at 11pm at night. So it required an overnight drive. And I thought, well, LY's brother is on his L's and he needs some practice, so why don't we let him drive part of the way. And it was all fine until we reached Trawalla. Just outside of town a bloody Kangaroo jumped out in front of us. Luckily it was a small one (teenager I guess), and 'WHAM!' Bye-bye Kangaroo! ^.^ And I am alright with that (so sue me), but what I am not alright with is the damage it does to the car and the hassle afterwards. Too a look at my car early this morning and the bumper was cracked/split, headlights snapped off from the frame and none of the bulbs work. Will upload pictures... oh, and I got some pictures with bits of the Roo's hair stuck to it.
But the flaw was this, apparently Roo's sit on the edge of the highway in the early mornings. WHY THE HELL DO THEY DO THAT!! DON'T THEY HAVE TO SLEEP!!! It just freaks me out because I'm going at 100kph and I don't know if it will decide to jump out and total my car or not! I swear, I think the Roos are out to get me. One thing for sure, I'm NOT driving on any Oz highway pass midnight. Too many animals to hit - I think last night was the most tiring drive that I have ever done, I was running on pure paranoia and adrenaline. Every shadow or tuft of grass that seems to be a little too high seemed like an animal out to jump out in front of me.
I hope the hit and run experience of the Roo by LY's brother didn't scare him too much since it was the first time he drove on the highways. But I'm sure that's a cool memory to have... I mean, who can say that they hit a Kangaroo on their first drive along the highway. I think this should be like a licensing requirement, everybody must hit a Roo before they get their P's ^.^;
Anyways, my disdain and hatred of Roos is quite obvious (since the first time where one hit my car). But not all is bad.
Took a look at my potato 'garden' and surprise, surprise - potato leaves!!
\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/
Can't wait till harvest time! Again, pictures will be uploaded once I get back to Melbourne (as I don't have the cable to connect to the computer here in Nhill).
