Disney rips-off Anime

While surfing the web, I came upon this website ---> http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm

Now, usually I wouldn't care much about controversy or throw in my thoughts... I believe, regardless whether you are right or wrong, everybody is entitled to an opinion and free to express it.

However, as I am an anime fan @ heart, I feel the injustice that Osamu Tezuka (one of the greatest Japanese animator and storytellers) might feel when he saw The Lion King. The website compares the similarities between Tezuka's anime tv series Jungle Emperor/Kimba The White Lion. Disney has taken the stance that when they made The Lion King, they were not aware of Kimba.

Whether this website can be trusted or not, it presents evidence that Disney is lying.

Now, I don't care what corporate Disney did/did not do in terms of 'alleged' plagarism, but I do feel it is not right to that they did not acknowledge Tezuka. The website documents visually the similarities between Kimba and The Lion King -- and I must say that I am convinced that The Lion King seems to be a remake of Kimba.

So what's the point of bring this up in my blog. Well, as an anime genre fan in general, I would like to voice my disapproval at corporate Disney and my strong disappointment at the artists/animators in Disney that took the same stance as their company. I view anime as a great art form and I enjoy it thoroughly. To have someone come a long and rip off decades of animated development and storytelling, it's like someone cloning your loved ones and making the clones as their own loved ones.

As a Osamu Tezuka fan (I love Black Jack!!): Disney, stealing is wrong!!!!

Well, there ends my rant. For you anime fans out there reading this, please spread the word about Disney's malicious action. Hopefully then, this will make others go and buy Tezuka's copy of Kimba and watch it for themselves. That way, in a sense, Tezuka can get the acknowledgement he deserves!!
