Experience from a budding dentist.

Found this in my email inbox; so if anybody happens to live in NSW, I guess this is what you'll be facing at the local, public dentist. Below is an experience from a mate of mine, enjoy!!

Subject: First Patient

Had my first patient today. Some very nice 64-year-old Chinese lady
who didn't speak English came into the hospital and sat down in the
chair while one very rough dentist (the finest dentist the povo NSW
public system could afford) poked and prodded around her mouth for 3
hours. The dentist went to work on the lady, she went to town--I felt
so sorry for her, her only sin was to be poor enough to qualify for
free public dental healthcare. There was much wincing, much
screaming, much crying--and that was just me trying to hold myself
together.

Because of the language barrier the dentist grabbed the nearest asian-
looking kid she could find, which happened to be me, and after not
making any sense of the Chinese I pretended I knew what she was
talking about, which involved reciting lines from Jacky Chan films--
but I think I lost all credibility once she said something about her
gums bleeding and I translated it as 'They say I'm cute--like Snoopy'
(Jacky chatting to Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 2). Eventually the
dentist replaced me with another asian-looking kid; a student who
ACTUALLY understood what the lady was saying. I kept trying to help
out every now and then; when the lady went 'Arrrrrrgghhh' I
yelled 'ARRRRRR...FAAAArrr..OUT' and when she whimpered I squealed
like a pig. The dentist told me to go stand in the corner.

All in all I'd say it was a good experience and I would recommend it
to anyone considering a career in dentistry. It's also a great way to
save money on movie tickets, if horror films are your kind of thing.
