Things I saw today

Had a nice week. Was at the Maths conference (MAV) at Latrobe University on Thursday/Friday and a very relaxing weekend. ^.^ But I dented and scratched the school car... ^.^; not really sure how to tell someone at work... sigh...

Anyways, yesterday afternoon, LY spotted an interesting framed picture/calligraphy at the Meiji Restaurant where we had our lunch. Apparently it is the various alternative to write 'fish' in Chinese. I am just quite amaze at the large number of possibilities to write a single word. Check it out...

Booked our plane ticket back to M'sia for next year on that very same afternoon. Went to Flight Centre and asked if they price match - of course they did but only with a printed quote. Anyways, we said we'll try to get one and went around getting quotes from the other Chinese travel agents. They were all cheaper than Flight Centre, but somehow or other, they seemed 'sneaky' and I generally had a dodgy feeling about them. So I decided to go back to Flight Centre and buy it from there even though it was a bit more expensive (by about $50). So told the agent at Flight Centre that we came back because we liked him (and it was true, he was really friendly and open), despite the fact that we couldn't give him printed quote. He happily booked our ticket and even threw in the discount too! ^.^ And it seems that the discount worked out to be cheaper than all the other travel agents! Really happy! ^.^

Saw another funny thing today on my way back from Melbourne to Nhill. I was taking a toilet break at the Ararat train station and this is on the sharps, biological waste bin....

Now take a closer look...

Don't know if this is a joke or there really is a Sweeney Todd Biomedical Waste Disposal service.
